ART 180 launched a public project in the summer that gave young people the opportunity to talk about what gives them purpose. The result, “What Do You Stand For?” consists of 30 self-portraits created by sixth-graders attending Henderson and Boushall middle schools. The large-scale 4-by-8-foot works illustrate the young artists’ personalities, dreams and beliefs, and after an unveiling at October’s First Fridays Art Walk, these works will move across the city as a traveling exhibition for approximately eight months before being installed in parks and other locations throughout Richmond for as long as a year. The unveiling of the works will take place Friday, Oct. 7, as part of First Fridays Art Walk at Adams and West Broad streets.
