Weekly Food Notes: Fire, Flour and Fork Returns, Hops in the Park + More



Talking with your mouth full: Richmond’s biggest foodie event, Fire, Flour and Fork, will be held Oct. 28-Nov.1 and now isn’t the time to procrastinate. Many of the chef dinners have sold out, but a precious few are still available. Tickets for dinners are $85, classes are $70 for one day and $125 for the weekend. Tasting tent tickets are $35.

Holler back: Caleb Shriver of Dutch & Co. will take over a food truck on Sunday, Nov. 15, along with three other chefs and trucks for Hill and Holler’s celebration of Cider Week at Adventure Farm in Earlysville.

Beer news: The first Hops in the Park event at Henricus Historical Park will be held Nov. 14, with beer, cider and mead tastings, food, music performances, historical interpreters in full period dress, and seminars on Virginia beer and Virginia hops farming.

Opened: Lakeside now has another bakery — and this one has an Australian focus. Zosaro’s Bakery opened last month, and you’ll find a crazy-good Australian mud cake there that can only be described as a brownie married to a chocolate cake — with frosting. … The Daily Kitchen & Bar will open a second restaurant in Short Pump, as reported by Richmond BizSense, and Church Hill’s David Rohrer of WPA Bakery has plans to open a second spot on South Side at 3414 Semmes Ave., the Times-Dispatch reports. and … The Urban Farmhouse Market and Café has finally, to the relief of many professors and other healthy eaters, opened the doors of its new Virginia Commonwealth University home at 800 W. Broad St. … Boulevard Burger & Brew, Eat Restaurant Partners’ newest venture will open at 1300 N. Boulevard, according to The Richmond Times-Dispatch.
