"Virginia Is for Lovers" logo that's sure to send state tourism through the roof

The New Heart Show

Last week officials unveiled a perkier version of the beloved "Virginia Is for Lovers" logo that's sure to send state tourism through the roof. Even so, we can't help but wonder about a few of the flourishes chosen for the new design.

Namely, the first lower-case "i" in "Virginia" is missing the dot. Sure, the omission is likely intentional — the dot would linger awfully close to the "V." As a nifty result of the dotectomy, the first "i" looks more like the number 1 than a letter. Interesting.

But what's really cool is that the new heart hangs fire.

Come on, admit it. The plumped-up shape looks an awful lot like another famous icon: the Rolling Stones' taunting tongue. Now, that's a logo that's stood on its own for a long time. Maybe officials hope Virginia's new heart will do the same.
