Vince Kane and the Incurables, Merrin Karas, Red and the Romantics and the Audyssey at the National

Friday, Feb. 27

I was unprepared for how much I’d like Vince Kane and the Incurables. The Richmond trio makes a brand of dance pop that doesn’t make you dumber the more you listen. It has a playfully perverse quality — a mixture of LCD Soundsystem tongue-in-cheeks, Violet Femmes confessions and Beck-inspired melodic turns. The group’s suave and debonair pursuits are confident without being cocky. Singer Vince Kane has a Jack White rasp in his articulations of love and pain on the group’s thoroughly satisfying debut release, “A New Concrete.” It plays Friday, Feb. 27, at the National with the new sensations of Merrin Karas, Red and the Romantics and the Audyssey. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10-$12. thenationalva.com.
