Easy Street is out, and a gimmick-filled F.W. Sullivan's Fan Bar & Grille is in this week at 2401 W. Main St. A mythical figurehead with the same name as a certain pilot and hero? Yes, an honorary proprietor named Sully — a world traveler whose adventures can be tracked by Twitter and Facebook. A farm-to-table mission statement? Yes, the menu will feature local meat, produce and dairy in a “twist on traditional pub fare,” the partners say, embracing the local-foods movement while moving away from the bar grub most recently served at the cafAc.
Its watering-hole status will remain intact, but with the added feature of a “where in the world is Sully?” theme implemented by chef Sean Murphy, recently of Metro Grill. Other partners in the venture are Jake Crocker, D. Hayden Fisher and Lee Younts. Regulars will notice changes to the building, including better lighting and seating, a game room in the back and a faAade clean-up. For now, the business will open at 5 p.m. daily, with weekend brunch coming soon. Opening day is set for Thursday, Nov. 5. 308-8576.
Last call: The Edible Garden is giving up its five-year run with reluctance. The Goochland restaurant on River Road was a country getaway with a fine chef, Ed BlasAc, in its later years, and had a particularly well-honed message supporting local farmers. Its last day of business is Nov. 7.
Heat and eat: If you can't cook as well as Sensi Italian Chophouse chef and owner Paolo Randazzo, you can at least pretend at home. He's packaging frozen trays of family-style pastas that serve five guests: Choices include chicken parmesan, lasagna, baked spaghetti, eggplant parmesan and penne vodka. Price is $24 per tray. Sensi also has date night and wine specials and other reasons to dine inside the Tobacco Row business, still one of the area's tastiest ristorantes. 648-3463. www.sensirestaurant.com.
Scotch in Cuba: Coming to Havana '59 (pictured), an evening of Scotch tasting with the folks from Glenlivet. Guests get a trio of tastes for $15, including a 15-year French oak, 16-year nadurra cask and an 18- year Glenlivet, which can be paired with cigars to complement their mellow flavors.
