Despite borrowing its name from one of Shakespeare’s epic tragedies, the indie-punk band Titus Andronicus makes music that’s anything but weepy. Fronted by singer and songwriter Patrick Stickles, Titus Andronicus mixes old-fashioned rock with the anger of punk almost effortlessly. Its energetic, thrashing sound reflects influences as broad as the Pixies and Bruce Springsteen. The band recently released its “Local Business,” which in its short time out is being hailed by critics as one of the best albums of the year. Titus Andronicus performs at Strange Matter on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. $15. strangematterrva.com.
