"Alice in da Bronx" by Helene Ruiz.
Those folks trying to consolidate the life and times of the 1960s and '70s in a few sentences might as well just start reciting lines from “We Didn't Start the Fire.” Twenty years can invite an abundance of historical associations. Of course, for all its counterculture and social unrest, Cold War confrontations and successful space exploration, both decades delivered some incredible pieces of artistic expression. Taking inspiration from the works of Andy Warhol, Peter Max and the realm of psychedelia, Art6 Gallery presents “Throwback, Art of the '60s and '70s,” opening Friday, March 4. On March 19, one week before the close of the exhibit, Art6 also will hold a '60s- and '70s-themed fundraiser dance where guests are invited to dress in their favorite period outfits ($5-$7). “Throwback” is scheduled to open on March 4 and remain on display through March 26.
