They Had All Slipped Down Between the Couch Cushions


The Eric Schindler Gallery’s “Lost Retrospective” is a collection of unseen works by Thomas Van Auken, “lost” portraits and still lifes that didn’t fit his previous shows at the gallery. Which is really saying something, since his last show featured a loosely clad female in repose, as well as a single, darkly lighted skull on a table, looking like something that might tickle Goya. But while there will surely be a variety of themes, there will certainly be a consistency of execution, everything looking so natural it could hardly be seen another way. The show opens with a reception Jan. 12, 7-9 p.m. Through Feb. 6. 644-5005. S
