Once you've read the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy or watched its epically awesome film adaptations, it becomes pretty difficult to take Christmas elves with any kind of fictional legitimacy. Elves aren't tiny people who sit around in an arctic sweatshop making toys for prepubescent goodie-goodies. They're full-grown immortal warriors who use their killer speed and agility to slay hordes of Mordor's orc population. Fortunately for Theatre IV, the nerdiness of grown men isn't as consequential as it is to children. Performing at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, the local children's theater presents two performances of “The Shoemaker and the Christmas Elves.” The musical puts a holiday spin on a well known Brothers Grimm fairytale. Shows are scheduled at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec.
