The Richmond Symphony: “Voices of Survival” at the Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage

Tuesday, Jan. 27

The Richmond Symphony commemorates the 70th anniversary of the liberation of prisoners held at the Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz with “Voice of Survival.” The concert takes place on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Carpenter Theatre. It features video interviews with Holocaust survivors living in Richmond as well as Virginia Commonwealth University alumnus and author of the book “Violins of Hope,” James A. Grymes. Singers from across the state will perform with the symphony and its chorus. The Steven Smith-conducted concert emphasizes the power of the people who endured such unspeakable evil by performing works written by composers who suffered at the hands of the Nazis. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10-$75.
