For a city (and state) that prohibits people from opening alcohol-only establishments, Richmond sure loves to drink. Half of the restaurants want to be bars, and they’d do better if they were allowed to be. But we do have festivals aplenty that highlight fermented delights, one of which is the Richmond Cider Festival on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 17th Street Farmers’ Market. Along with the alcoholic and nonalcoholic samplings from Virginia cideries, including Albemarle CiderWorks, Blue Bee Cider, Castle Hill Cider and Cobbler Mountain Cellars, there will be food, live music, workshops and children’s activities. The apple amusements run from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free with $20 sampling tickets for adults. ciderweekva.com.
