The Hackensaw Boys at the National

Saturday, Jan. 22

Described with such terms as roots rockers and twang-core, the Hackensaw Boys bring a whiskey-swilled sucker punch by way of high-powered playing of all things stringed. Continuing their foot-stomping ruckus is the their latest work, “The Old Sound of Music, Vol. 1,” one of the last albums to be recorded at the legendary Sound of Music studios before it moved into new digs on Foushee Street. “It's their most diverse sound to date,” band engineer Bryan Hoffa says, “but it still has plenty of that raucous energy they're known for.” With a second volume of songs set to surface in the earlier part of this year, the Hackensaw Boys are scheduled to play the National with Long Arms on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 8:30 p.m. $13-$15.
