Aimee Agresti and Meg Medina
“The first draft of anything is shit,” Ernest Hemingway famously said. This week, the James River Writers hold a panel discussion about how to turn that first draft into something that smells a little better. The Writing Show’s theme is the Elements of Edits: From Rough Draft to Published, examining how debut novels go from rough drafts to published books. The panel includes Aimee Agresti, author of the young adult novel “Illuminate,” and local children’s author Meg Medina, who’s behind the picture book “Tia Isa Wants a Car.” The Elements of Edits is Thursday, Aug. 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the pavilion room of the Children’s Museum of Richmond. $10-$12. jamesriverwriters.org.
