Despite having his third and fourth fingers paralyzed in a fire when he was 18, the late Belgian-born French guitarist Django Reinhardt became one of the most influential guitarists of the 20th century. The pioneer of Gypsy-hot jazz, Reinhardt’s innovative style and music is being celebrated at the sixth annual Djangoary Music Soiree on Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Acclaimed French guitarist Stéphane Wrembel and Richmond’s hot-jazz practitioners Thomas Wakefield and Gypsy Roots will perform compositions by the six-string master. There also will be workshops and jam sessions to showcase the depth of Reinhardt’s immeasurable talents and the continuing influence of his timeless music. The festivities get underway at 7 p.m. Admission is $30. artsglenallen.com.
