The Jefferson Suite features a chandelier, art and a color TV. Twice daily, room service will arrive with a well-planned meal. An escort will take you on a walk five times a day. Sounds like a nice getaway, right?

Especially if you’re a Labrador retriever. The suites of Holiday Barn might elicit chuckles among people who don’t understand canine charms, but dog lovers who choose Holiday Barn can leave town knowing their pets have nice digs.

he TVs are usually tuned to animal-related programming. Is it more for the pet or the owner? “It’s probably a little bit of both,” marketing director Martha Prideaux says.

Cats get perks too: Their condos — in a separate, dog-free building — include private restrooms and built-in aquariums. “We’re trying to make them feel as comfortable as possible,” Prideaux says.
