Former Gov. Bob McDonnell cried today, and his children sobbed, as the jury returned guilty verdicts in most of the 14 counts he and his wife faced for conspiracy and corruption.

Jurors found the former governor guilty on all counts except two charges of making false statements. The first lady, Maureen McDonnell, was found guilty on nine counts.

The McDonnells were charged with 14 felony counts total, most centering on their relationship with businessman Jonnie Williams, with whom they are accused of conspiring to promote his diet supplement business in exchange for more than $177,000 in loans, gifts and luxury vacations.

They also were charged with making false statements on bank loan papers, and Maureen McDonnell was charged with obstructing the criminal investigation.

Jurors left the courthouse out the back door, chased by cameras. None spoke with news reporters.
