Soja and Mariachi El Bronx at The National

Saturday, March 29. 7 p.m.

The allure of reggae music transcends all racial barriers. Soja, the eight-piece, Arlington reggae band, makes a distinctive brand of the Jamaican dropping third and has achieved a level of success that surpasses most of those native to the island. Listening to them, it’s easy to hear why. While it’s Jamaican at the root, Soja’s take on the music draws on rock, hip-hop, jam and folk to fortify a thinking-man’s party with the soul of Bob Marley. Soulja plays Saturday, March 29, at the National with fellow cross-cultural pushers Mariachi El Bronx from Los Angeles. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $20. thenationalva.com.
