“Sister Act” at the Altria Theater

Feb. 13 and 14

From the time it opened at the Pasadena Playhouse in California on Oct. 24, 2006, and closed a few short weeks later on Dec. 23, the musical comedy “Sister Act” became the most successful show in the venue’s history. It grossed more than a million dollars — and it’s easy to see why. Based on the 1992 hit film starring Whoopi Goldberg, audiences are treated to a lighthearted, feel-good story about Deloris Van Cartier (played by Kerissa Arrington), an aspiring diva who hides out in a convent after witnessing something she wishes she hadn’t. Written by the former executive producers and writers of the hit television series, “Cheers,” the Broadway smash features original music by eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken. “Sister Act” premieres at the Altria Theater on Friday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m., and runs Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2 and 8 p.m. Tickets are $38-$70.
