Dance music has always felt a little faceless. As long as the beats do what they're supposed to do — instill some energetic movement in an otherwise stationary body — the guy at the turntable can hardly be judged by his background. This universalist mentality plays well for dancehall breakthrough Sean Paul Heriques. Born in Jamaica, the multiethnic Heriques (his parents had Jamaican, Portuguese and Chinese blood), has spent the past several years scoring numerous Top 10 hits using a unique blend of reggae-pop, hip-hop and sing-jay vocals. Sure to feature tunes such as “Temperature,” “Get Busy” and “So Fine,” the lead single off his latest album “Imperial Blaze,” Heriques is scheduled to perform at the National on Friday, Jan. 15, at 9 p.m.
