Concrete comedian, visual artist and writer living and working in Richmond, Virginia, Carney's interdisciplinary practice includes performance, stand-up comedy, sculpture, critical theory, satire, video, and multiple other forms of media. He is the founder and director of Social Malpractice Publishing, a label that specializes in publishing artist books existing at the intersection of visual art and humor. In 2011, he co-founded the Conceptual Oregon Performance School (C.O.P.S.), a free, artist-run summer institute that focused on contemporary performance strategies and critical theory.
