Say Anything rose to prominence during the punk boom of the early 2000s with its popular record “… Is a Real Boy,” which quickly smashed the standard “pretty punk” image and kept fans focused on the music. Since the record’s release, legions of fans have flocked to the band, which led to numerous dates on the Vans Warped Tour and sharing the stage with bands such as Saves the Day, Hellogoodbye, Thrice, Manchester Orchestra and others. Say Anything is well-known for its live shows, in which band members perform so hard, they’re just as beaten up as the fans in the moshing crowds. Last month saw the release of Say Anything’s highly anticipated new record, “Anarchy, My Dear,” and the buzz has already started. Say Anything performs at the National on Wednesday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m. $16-$19. 612-1900.
