No one in the Richmond music scene works harder than Samson Trinh. As the leader of the Upper East Side Brass Band, the always affable musician, producer and teacher makes the Energizer Bunny look lazy. The signature characteristic of his work is his unbridled enthusiasm for music. In a world dominated by egomaniacs, that unmistakable zest for melodic living can’t easily be faked. By that measure alone, Trinh is worthy of your attention. He celebrates a decade of big-band music-making with the Upper East Side Brass Band on Friday, Nov. 29, at Gallery5. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10. gallery5arts.org.
