The biggest cause of personal bankruptcies in the United States is medical bills. If the disease, ailment or affliction doesn’t kill you, the cost of your treatment will — even if you have health insurance. Such is the case with Robbie Wells. The lifelong musician is battling prostate cancer for a second time. His sons, Corey and Jesse of Richmond Americana and bluegrass sensation Jackass Flats, have organized a benefit show Friday, June 20, at the Broadberry to help with the ever-increasing cost of his treatment. Reforming to play with Jackass Flats are the jam-band rockers of Farm Vegas. The group hasn’t graced a stage in many a moon and its inclusion on the bill makes an already special occasion that much more special. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 with donations encouraged. thebroadberry.com.
