Richmond Rates Only in the Middle of Snob List

If you really want putdowns, go to California or D.C.

Just how snobby is Richmond?

Middle of the pack, reports the RoadSnacks website, which ranked 250 U.S. cities. Richmond shared 59th place with Tampa, Florida, a little ahead of Yonkers, New York.

RoadSnacks, which purports to provide tidbits of info that are easy to bite into, uses measurements such as housing prices, income, percentages of the population with college degrees, private schools, art galleries and how many Whole Foods stores there are.

Who’s Numero Uno?

San Francisco, of course. It is ultimate snob heaven in every way – overpriced housing, arrogance, cultural braggadocio, wine snobbery and so on.

All of the top 10 cities were in California, Washington state or Arizona, except for Washington D.C., which came in at No. 7.

RoadSnacks declares Washington to have plenty of poverty but it is a “culture snob’s dream” with plenty of private art museums, an opera, ballet and symphony.

Come on, Richmond, shouldn't we fare better? With all of the “Come-Heres,” “Rivah” and “South of the River” put-downs, you'd think we'd at least rate in the top 20. Maybe after the next Whole Foods opens.
