Railroad Earth at the National

It's difficult to figure out exactly how the state of New Jersey gave birth to a band like Railroad Earth, especially when you listen to the band's jammy amalgamation of country, bluegrass, folk, Celtic and jazz on its latest album, “Amen Corner.” While certainly influenced more by Mark Twain than Bruce Springsteen, Railroad Earth shares much of the same respect for the country's rooted Americana. On the road with Jackass Flats, it plays the National on Saturday, March 21, at 8 p.m. $18-$21. 612-1900. — Mike Hilleary
