No one who witnessed the American hardcore scene of the 1980s could have guessed how popular the blitzkrieg music would become. But that’s the fate of all music: Yesterday’s revolution is tomorrow’s dinner music. On Friday, Feb. 20, San Diego keepers of flame Pierce the Veil, and Orlando, Florida’s Sleeping with Sirens, co-headline a night of new millennium thrashing at the National. Both groups play an intuitional brand of Discord hardcore spiked with metal, pop and rock of mainstream origins. While neither can touch the blistering aggressions of the genre’s original practitioners, Pierce the Veil and Sleeping with Sirens translate and update the minor threats of the past with conviction for today’s thrill seekers. Along with the headliners will be the trio PVRIS and the five-piece Mallory Knox. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $29.50-$37.85. thenationalva.com.
