The Richmond Outreach Center is selling off assets. Better known as The ROC, the church put its Old Warwick Road campus up for sale last month, roughly the same time its founder and pastor, Geronimo Aguilar, stepped down amid allegations he sexually assaulted two school-aged girls in Texas in the '90s. Authorities there have charged him with seven felonies.
The ROC's 17.7-acre campus is listed at $2.6 million. The church used the property as its main location before moving into a renovated flea market in 2010. The Warwick Road building remained in use for Spanish-language church services and as a youth center. The church rents another building on the property to the Elijah House Academy, a private Christian K-12 school that had been affiliated with the church. The school's website says it's moving to a new location this week.
Likewise, a house off Forest Hill Avenue that the church used for men recovering from homelessness and drug addiction is listed for sale.
Neither the ROC nor the Elijah House Academy responded to requests for comment. Barry Hofheimer, the real estate agent handling the sale of the campus, says he's shown the property to several prospective buyers and doesn't expect it to sit on the market for long.
