Out of Town Pick: Adele at 9:30 Club

Songstress Adele was one of the artists recently pegged by a British tabloid as one of the “New Amys,” a group of white female singers who could replace infamous diva Amy Winehouse on the pop charts. Adele's by-the-numbers approach to soulful pop won't woo all the lovers of that troubled and tattooed waif, but the sweeping sounds of songs such as “Chasing Pavements” and “Hometown Glory” have earned her some fans of her own. Adele comes to Washington's 9:30 Club on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. $20. 202-393-0930 or visit www.930.com.
