Led by vocalist James Menefee, formerly of punk bands Fun Size and River City High, Long Arms burst onto the scene two years ago with its debut album, “Long Arms to Hold You,” a collection of tracks full of alt-country rock mixed with punk and a lot of fun thrown in. In its short time as a band, the group has traveled up and down the East Coast, sharing the stage with such big-name acts as Girl Talk, Best Coast, the Hackensaw Boys, Maki, Less than Jake, Jack’s Mannequin and countless others. Menefee’s pop-punk past and the classically melodic sounds of members Prabir Mehta and Treesa Gold, who are also in the band Goldrush, come through quite strongly. Long Arms performs at Poe’s Pub on Saturday, March 31, at 9 p.m. $5. 648-2120.
