Formed in 2008, Local Natives create a dramatic and eclectic blend of indie rock using lots of vocal harmonies and dreamlike melodies. The group’s first album, “Gorilla Manor,” debuted in the Billboard 200 and at No. 3 on the New Artist Chart. This led to immediate comparisons to bands such as Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend and Grizzly Bear. In 2013, the band returned with its sophomore album, “Hummingbird,” and its single “Breakers” quickly garnered attention from music critics across the country, including Paste magazine and Pitchfork. Local Natives perform at the National on Wednesday, June 19, at 8 p.m. $20-$23. thenationalva.com.
