Lite 98's morning show ratings are, right now, exactly the same as where they were at the end of last year (7.1 share, according to Nielsen's average share of listeners from 6-10 a.m., ages 12 and older). Since at that time Lite 98 was playing Christmas music and that's always the highest listening of the year, to now be doing equally well during regular programming is just terrific.
Chris & Kris' 8.4 share last month beat every month but one in all of 2013. And the actual number of people who listened to the Lite 98 morning show was actually at a two-year high last month: over 101,200 people ages 12 and up. Six-figure morning-show listening is rare for any station in town. Makes us feel like we're on to something good!
We have lots of other wins in the key demo of the station, but again I understand that sometimes you can't print those. The full quarterly ratings come out to the public this week, and we're expecting a really strong listenership for the morning show and Lite 98 in general — higher than anything on the station in 2013.
Maybe the bigger story is that this has been one of the most successful launches of a local morning show ever in Richmond. And we'd be hard-pressed to find a stronger story — on any station, in any format, anywhere in the nation.
We, right here in Richmond, worked hard to discover what local adults wanted in a local morning show for 2014 and beyond. We found how different their tastes are from what their mom used to listen to in the morning. In a city that sometimes says, "We don't like change," Richmond has so warmly embraced Chris & Kris and we are very appreciative. (And obviously proud — please forgive me!)
