OK, get this: Writer and humorist David Sedaris (who's appearing at the Landmark Oct. 3) has a talent agent named Kathie Russo, who was married to Spalding Gray, a brilliant monologue writer. Gray was so neurotic and comically self-analytical that he earned the nickname, "the WASP Woody Allen." He helped found the Wooster Group, one of the most important avant-garde theater companies in New York in the late '70s, where he basically invented the genre of the autobiographic dramatic monologue, Sedaris' strong suit. Unfortunately, Gray committed suicide two years ago. Luckily for us, the Firehouse Theatre is putting on a show with excerpts from his old monologues mixed with his unpublished journal entries and poetry. "Leftover Stories to Tell: A Tribute to Spalding Gray" plays Sunday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $50; proceeds benefit the Firehouse and the Spalding Gray Foundation. 355-2001. Sedaris appears at the Landmark Theater Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. $26-$36. 262-8003 or www.ticketmaster.com. S
