Richmond loves its ethnic food festivals, from Greek and Armenian to Asian and Indian, and diners tend to turn out in force when the chefs are as seasoned and agreeable as the dishes they spend months preparing.

This weekend, the 22nd annual Lebanese Food Festival puts out beef and shrimp kabobs, roasted lamb, stuffed cabbage and squash, kibbi (lamb meatloaf), spinach pies and shawirma, among nearly two dozen dishes, on the grounds of St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church at 4611 Sadler Road. The festival runs May 19-21, rain or shine. Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is free, and covered indoor and outdoor seating is available for à la carte and sit-down dinners. Live music and folk dancing add to the authentic flavor of the meals, also packaged for bulk and frozen takeout or as boxed lunches.
