Jackson Ward, Brittany Marie and Sweet Justice at the National

Friday, March 20

Jackson Ward knows how to party. The Richmond-based country sensations play with an intoxicating brand of barroom gusto on their debut, full-length release, “Goodbye Trouble.” From the juke joint fist pumping of “I’m All In” to the sobriety-be-damned anthem, “Beer for Breakfast,” Jackson Ward’s six-pack intentions are clear: It plays music to get the bartender’s attention. It’s a modern, booze-soaked take on classic ’60s honky-tonk that isn’t afraid of slowing things down on the catchy lovelorn lament of “A Little While” and the George Jones-penned tearjerker, “The Grand Tour.” The group celebrates the release of its new CD Friday, March 20, at the National. Fellow Richmond boilermakers Brittany Marie and Sweet Justice get the party started. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $12.50-$15. thenationalva.com. — Chris Bopst
