There’s no getting rid of Gwar (I should know, I was one of its founders and was in the band for two and half years.) Almost 30 years after the group first started shooting fake semen into the crudely made, costumed faces of Ronald Reagan and other sacred cows, the profane antics of Richmond’s most infamous cultural exports continue. On Saturday the group celebrates its X-rated past, present and future with a full slate of not-suitable-for-family-entertainment repulsions for the fourth annual homegrown festival of wrongness, Gwar-B-Q. Presented by Ring Dog Rescue, copious amounts of booze and barbecue will be consumed at Haddad’s Lake at 7900 Osborne Turnpike, while attendees listen to the not-so-subtle sounds of Municipal Waste, Corrosion of Conformity, Loincloth, X-Cops and many others before Gwar takes the stage. Adding to the mayhem, there will be sporting events, giveaways, celebrity guests and other fake-blood-stained surprises. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Haddad’s Lake, 7900 Osborne Turnpike.
