Certainly one of more underappreciated bands from its home, Gomez of Southport, England, has spent the better part of a decade delivering a kind of Brit-rock sweet spot that sits between Oasis’s Beatles influence and Radiohead’s out-there experimentalism. Never bogged down by a frontman’s stagnated inspiration — the quintet distinguishes itself with four very capable songwriters and three vocalists — Gomez has never shied from new instrumental avenues. Such paths incorporate things as varied as horns, strings and electronics. The band just seems to know exactly how to make them work. Playing new songs off its latest album, “Whatever’s on Your Mind,” Gomez is scheduled to perform at Innsbrook Pavilion, opening for the John Butler Trio, on Saturday, July 23, at 5 p.m. $17-$75. 794-6700.
