The mother of artist Gigi Andresen Brothers was a sculptor who designed the Christmas window displays for Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord and Taylor. The daughter's art shares that familial sense of tasteful, if splashy, eye grabbing. Working with a variety of mediums and styles, the longtime Church Hill resident creates works that exude light and lots and lots of color. They appear to burst out, reflecting all kinds of experiences. A series of Brothers' recent paintings are on display at Gallery 606 in Ashland until Dec. 11. The venue is itself worth the short jaunt away from the usual spots. A warm, red brick building that once was a convenience store, 606 opened last month with a multiartist installation. In addition to Brothers' vibrant work, the gallery is showcasing an “Off the Wall” prospectus of local artists. Rejoice! Color has come to the Center of the Universe. 606 England St. in Ashland. 752-7126.
