Garbage is back. The alt-rock band went mainstream in 1994 after its self-titled first album delivered hits such as “Only Happy When It Rains” and “Stupid Girl.” 1997’s “Version 2.0” debuted at the top of the Billboard charts. After a string of successful albums and sold-out tours, Garbage went on hiatus for a number of years before recently returning to music. In 2012, Garbage released its fifth studio album, “Not Your Kind of People,” its first since 2005’s “Bleed Like Me.” Garbage performs at the National on Friday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. $25. thenationalva.com.
