Music may not change the world, but it definitely does make it a better place. To help combat the growing tide of violence in the city, a free concert will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at Cary 100 Restaurant and Lounge. Jamil Dee Jasey, the Richmond musician and founder of the artist coalition Divine Souls has assembled a fine sampling of up-and-coming regional talents for the festivities. Scheduled to perform are the multicultural sounds of spiritual Hopewell hip-hopper Taesean Sog Blanding, Richmond R&B singer and songwriter Kayla Joy Pumpelly, spoken-word artist Sonya Agape and folk singer Lizette Ledon, with Arthur Lee Jr. manning the turntables. The socially conscious musical proceedings take place 6-10 p.m. 252-0334.
