The Pimps of Joytime want to get next to you. You can tell by the way they like to slink. Their funky bobs and weaves go straight for the hips in a Sly Stone appraisal of how to get your body to function properly. The group’s 2015 release, “Jukestone Paradise,” rocks the loose booty on the retro-futures of “Cut Off,” “Dank Janky” and “Heart Is Wild.” From the discoed falsetto of “Dance Cardia” to the slow, shimmering simmer of “Free Dancer,” the Pimps of Joytime engage exclusively in mutually beneficial pursuits. For those times when you’ve had too much to think, the Pimps of Joytime offer a joyous brand of sobering relief. The group brings its family affairs to the Broadberry on Sunday, Sept. 4. Richmond multiculturists the Jouwala Collective open. 9 p.m. $13-$15.
