The Craft and Design Show is one of the biggest weekends for the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. Of nearly 60 artists, there will be 19 new ones at the event, held Nov. 18-20. Among them is ceramicist Jim Whalen and glass artist Warner Whitfield — whose work is in the private collections of Stephen King and Martha Stewart. Local notables include wood artist Daniel Rickey, jewelry artist Caitie Sellers and glass artist Sean Donlon, whose work you may recognize from the Quirk Hotel lobby. The featured artist is Tennessee jeweler Ashley Buchanan, who works in powder-coated enamel (pictured). Her signature bracelets will be on sale with 10 percent of proceeds going to VisArts. And for the first time in its 52-year history, VisArts is making patrons’ preview tickets available to the public. That gives buyers first dibs on Friday from 6-9 p.m. Tickets cost $100, and $80 for VisArts members. For the rest of the weekend, general admission is $10, and you can shop accompanied local beer and barbecue. visarts.org.
