In an era defined by political, social and moral polarizations, there’s one thing that has the power to bring people together: bacon. Sure, not everyone partakes in the delicious pleasure of ingesting the smoked, boiled, fried, baked or grilled flesh of a pig. But if bacon were running for president, it would win in a landslide. You can show your support for the community-unifying meat product at the third annual Bacon Festival on Sunday, June 14, at the 17th Street Farmers’ Market. There will be all sorts of treats to savor — bacon-infused sliders, ribs, clam cakes, mac ’n’ cheese, chocolate bacon ice pops and more. Also live music, fermented beverages, children’s activities and shopping opportunities to help you, as the old saying goes, bring home the bacon — or at least devour it. The family festivities run from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Free admission. 646-0954 or visit enrichmond.org.
