I have a confession to make: I can’t stand the Eagles. But I do love Joe Walsh. He plays guitar like how I want to feel — loosely liberated, tastefully punctual and helping a team reach its full potential. Aside from his tenure in one of my most hated classic rock bands of all time, I can listen to anything else he’s done during 40-plus years in popular music and raise my fist in loving appreciation. His tone, phrasing and rhythms are the stuff of legend. With the James Gang, Walsh defined American trio rock with FM radio staples “Funk #49” and “Walk Away,” and he was the six-string ingredient that propelled the Eagles to unprecedented heights of stardom in the late ’70s. A master showman with chops and hits to die for, Joe Walsh brings his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame résumé to Innsbrook After Hours on Thursday, July 21. J.D. and the Straight Shot open. 6 p.m. $20-$375. innsbrookafterhours.com.
