While children nestle in their beds with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads, D.J. Williams will spend Christmas Eve doing what he does best: kicking out the jams. On Thursday, Dec. 24, the constantly touring, recording and performing guitarist plays his annual holiday show at the Camel. Backed by his longtime band of bassist Todd Herrington, drummer Dusty Simmons and keyboardist Joey Ciucci, with saxophonist Gordon Jones and Mark Ingram on trumpet, Williams leads his merry men through a seamless synthesis of jazz, funk and rock. The band has been entertaining crowds for many a moon in the capital city, so you probably already know what’s in store. And if you don’t, give yourself an early Christmas present and check them out. You won’t regret it. Doors open for the holiday dance party at 9 p.m. Free.
