Aggro-dance disco? God I love it. Fine modern practitioners of post punkisms are Diät. The German dark industrialists deliver a stylized menace in the vein of early Bauhaus, Killing Joke and Crisis. The tension tilts on the group’s debut album, “Positive Energy,” burst with jagged, socialist zeal. Tantrums such as the “Solid Gold”-era Gang of Four opening track, “Young and Successful,” and the taut yet fluid “Nausea” oscillate known and unknown pleasures. This isn’t music made for passivity — it’s made to be engaged with physicality and to provoke immediate reaction. If they can muster the same tenacity live as they do on record, Diät will be a force to be reckoned with. It brings its secondhand smirks and offbeat quirks to Strange Matter on Saturday, Sept. 10. Joining will be Vacant Life from Seattle and Richmond groups Shadow Age and Unmaker. 8 p.m. $10-$12. strangematterrva.com.
