All politics is local. The same could be said about the arts. Richmond’s creative class, a central element in the revitalization and re-branding of the Capital City, will take center stage at Create the Vote: A Mayoral Forum on Tapping RVA’s Creative Culture. It’s happening Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre at Virginia Repertory Theatre. Moderated by Richmond Times-Dispatch columnist Michael Paul Williams, the discussion will offer insight about candidates’ plans to nurture and support the city’s growing arts and culture scene. It coincides with a Style cover story that week exploring the same topics with the candidates. Essential in both politics and art is participation. City residents are encouraged to bring questions for the candidates to debate, discuss and hopefully answer to solidify your vote. This is taking place as part of Artober, a new monthlong celebration of Richmond artistic expressions. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. with the discussion starting at 6. Free.
