Various Scrooges like to say Santa Claus doesn’t exist. I disagree. The spirit by which he is defined lives within anyone who believes in the quaint notion of peace and good will to all mankind. The joyous embodiment of this belief will be on full display at the 12th annual Christmas on MacArthur taking place Saturday, Dec. 12, on the 4000 block of MacArthur Avenue. Jam-packed with seasonal festivities including a parade, entertainment, vendors and ingestible offerings, the holiday celebration sponsored by the Bellevue Merchants Association, North of the James magazine, Holton Elementary School and the U.S. Marines collects unwrapped gifts for Toys for Tots. As the old saying goes, it is better to give than to receive, but Christmas on MacArthur allows everyone to have their cake and eat it too. The giving and receiving runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free.
