Ward Tefft is one of my favorite Richmond Santa Clauses. Unlike the character of Christian folklore, the owner of the Carytown bookstore Chop Suey Books is in the cultural gift-giving mood year round. On Sunday, Dec. 13, the man who helped bring us Best Friend’s Day, Bizarre Holiday Market and John Waters at the Byrd presents the second annual Brew Ho-Ho at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. The end-of-year celebration of local wordsmiths will feature more than 35 writers including Benjamin Campbell, Bob Gorman from Gwar, Greg Smithers, Nancy Wright Beasley, Noah Scalin and Randy Blythe discussing their works. A portion of the day’s family-friendly proceeds go to benefit the Virginia Children’s Book Festival. The festival of the regional written word runs from 3-6 p.m. Admission is free.
