Event Pick: Ashland Train Day

Nov. 5

I ran into Ed Trask walking his dog last week. Not surprisingly, he was covered in paint. When I asked him what he was working on, he told me about a mural he was doing for Ashland Train Day. “It’s enormous,” he said, closely examining the black-and-white splatters covering his hands. “You should check it out. I’m really happy with it.” You too can see the latest outdoor creation by one of Richmond’s best known muralists as well as a whole bunch of other locomotions at the annual Ashland Train Day on Saturday, Nov. 5, in downtown Ashland. There will be train rides, model trains and railroad-related vendors, activities and entertainment to showcase the past, present and future of the world’s oldest form of mechanized travel in our region. The free, family-friendly event runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
