When: Sun., Oct. 15, 4 p.m. 2017
The Evensong will feature St. Paul’s Choir under the direction of Charles K. Lindsey, Jr., Organist and Choirmaster. The music will include: The Evening Service in D of George Dyson, the Preces and Responces of Richard Ayleward, and motets by Orlando Gibbons, “Almighty and Everlasting God” and Thomas Tomkins, “Great and Marvellous Are Thy Works." Immediately following the Evensong, there will be a gospel music concert featuring the Oak Lane performers Andy Smith, Liz Nance, and Russell Lawson. Oak Lane acoustic music was formed in 2004 by a few choristers/musicians from St. James Episcopal Church’s West Gallery Choir. They play an eclectic combination of folk, country, bluegrass, and gospel music. Whether they’re singing the work of unique singer/songwriters like Johnny Cash or Mary Chapin Carpenter, ground-breaking bluegrass by Bill Monroe, traditional mountain and roots songs, or Patsy Cline’s gospel tunes, they give each song a special Oak Lane arrangement. A reception will be held in Bristol Hall immediately following the concert.
